Study for school examinations

Studying the German language at school is just one of many subjects for pupils, and they may not find enough time to learn in depth and to understand the grammar.  Language study involves a lot of practice and repetition for success in examinations, and if there is not enough time during school days for this, a pupil may just start guessing words and sentence structures. Soon enough, frustration will set in when grades deteriorate, and many people, young and old, think that they are “no good at languages”.

But there’s no need to be scared of examinations with additional support!

Speaking a modern foreign language can be a distinct advantage when looking for a university course, a career or a later step-up in your career. Although German is not taught at all schools or colleges, there are many business and cultural links between the UK and Germany.  It can still be a big advantage having some German language skills and they can give you or your child ‘the edge’ for success. Having this additional qualification on a CV has got to be a good thing and private lessons can help you to achieve this.

Key stages 2 and 3 examinations, GCSE qualification

Tuition would provide pupils with structured lessons to focus on their school examination board’s syllabus in the four skills required: reading, listening, writing and speaking, or on any of these with higher emphasis, as required.

It may not only be course book work or additional practise that pupils need, but sometimes they require specific help with homework or forthcoming tasks, some points of grammar, or going over marked essays to understand these better.

Further study, A-level qualification examinations

The lessons would work along similar lines as described above, but at a higher level and focussing on the students’ chosen specialisms. Pupils will probably need particular help with essay writing and more advanced grammar topics. Additional resources are used such as online editorials, videos or magazines. Students will usually want one-to-one lessons for best results.
