What are the benefits of one-to-one tuition, and why spend extra money for a private tutor and all the additional time that lessons and homework require?
This kind of commitment will, of course, have a good reason – maybe to improve your child’s marks in a school examination, maybe to gain access to a higher education course, or maybe to improve your career prospects – there can be many reasons.
The benefits of one-to-one lessons
These are obvious: private lessons promote faster learning as the student enjoys complete, 100% attention from the tutor.
The tutor can pick up on particular problem areas and address these, e.g. focus on a difficult grammar point, carry out regular vocabulary testing or provide lots of varied exercises to reinforce learning.
A tutor can also instantly correct the student’s pronunciation errors before bad habits set in. If these have already developed, we have to work on them!
As a team, we can create life-like scenarios for dialogue that take place in the student’s areas of interests and experience, helping to make the language come to life and make it more relevant and fun.
Before examinations, it is very valuable to be able to practise oral skills with a tutor – this will make the student not only more fluent but also more confident.
