Resources for students preparing for private tuition
There are a lot of online learning resources for students preparing for more personally focussed lessons. You can choose from complete courses to occasional learning via, for example, duolingo – an app I can really recommend. There are also ‘Easy Languages’ YouTube videos available.
The ‘Teach Yourself’ books are very good too, and the accompanying CDs help with listening and speaking skills. There are audio CDs with German language stories available, and watching German language films on DVDs with or without subtitles can really help with listening skills and to become familiar with the sound of the language and everyday expressions.
Whatever your choice, I would definitely get a verb conjugation book and – dare I say it?! – a grammar guide as well, the PONS series is excellent. This will help to make more sense of the exercises and to add structure.
It does require discipline to teach yourself, but once you’re ready to really immerse yourself in the language, you can start on your tutored lessons – or, if you prefer, jump right in and I will guide you!
Please get in touch if you’d like more information.
